War Poetry Essay Paper Example For Students
War Poetry Essay Paper The use of metaphors in D. E. D was used to relate to the reader and manipulate their feeling and thoughts on what the war must have been like. Drunk with fatigue, drunk a word meaning intoxicated and slow really relates to the reader as it is not alcohol they are drunk because of, but it is because of the lack of sleep, the constant pace and rapidity of the war which is proving all to much to bare on the soldiers. It also shows they are lacking them certain capabilities of vigorous men called to war. The paragraphs in D. E.D provide a good structure to the poem, but also the different perspectives the paragraphs are written from provides good dramatic effect. The first stanza is written in second person, and it is used to set the scene of the poem. The second stanza is written for a first person point of view, and is used because Owen in this stanza is describing what is happening to another soldier and is putting across a very personal account of what he saw and heard. Stanza 3 is also written in first person, and in this stanza Owen talks of a soldiers struggle. Stanza four is written in second person and from this stanza we gather, that the idea of war is not a good thing and in this stanza Owen talks to his audience and manipulates their feeling by almost making them feel lucky and grateful that they are reading the poem and not writing it. The sentence that gives u this impression is if you could hear. In Henry v speech Shakespeare uses a lot of imperatives in the kings speech to show his superiority and emphasise how he is top of the hierarchy. Shakespeare also uses rhetorical devices in the kings speech, he does this because the king is trying to get the men ready and fearless of war, and by using rhetorical questions he almost makes them feel as if war is a good thing. Shakespeare uses a variety of phrases and words throughout the poem to help engage the audience. One of which is the repetition of honour which is used to emphasise the honour which would be bestowed upon them. It is also used to show encouragement to the soldiers, because the soldiers are worried about fewer numbers and Henry v uses this to show the soldiers that the fewer numbers they fight in if they was to win war the greater the honour that would be shared amongst them. Also by invoking Gods name it creates a powerful and emotional effect in which he uses to his advantage.

So these factors will be threats of new entries for new entrants. But in fast food industry is gaining and presenting an increase in sales at the mean time because of their affordable prices with credit crunch, it makes it attractive to new business. BARGAINNG POWER OF BUYERS In fast food industry McDonalds is maintain the quite low bargaining power of buyers. In this case perceived to be pretty low risk for McDonalds as consumers have little control over the variations in the product offerings, price, and place of distribution. However, Mother company should always take place and any necessary adaptation made. The company should keep customers satisfied, as switching cost is quite low and the chances of switching to another brand in case of dissatisfaction is relatively low. But for that possibilities are very low because McDonald has created its image among the consumers through brand name, differentiation, quality, quantity, environment, customer care, promotions and uniqueness. BARGAINING POWER OF SUPLIERS In this case Supplier power is quite high in this fast food industry because there is lesser number of suppliers, and customers cannot switch to other brands because every brand has created its own image in the consumers mind, thats why consumer cannot switch to other brands. On the other hand, McDonald has established long term relations with its suppliers and McDonalds has a great deal of influence over their suppliers, due to the fact that it supports them and trains them, the threats from suppliers are quite low. Did the New Deal Prolong the Great Depression?
Did the New Deal Prolong the Great Depression? Yes: Burton W. Folsom, Jr. * The Cabinet head had personal connections with the President. Made him bias towards FDRââ¬â¢s ideas * Unemployment was higher in 1939 than in 1931 after hoover left office * Govt went from running a surplus to a deficit * Seven Years of trade deficits cursed American GDP over the span of the New Deal * Welfare and Social Security kept lazy people lazy and made hard working people take pay cuts * The economy is self regulating and self healing; it would have fixed itself in time(not 12 years though) * IT was ââ¬Å"Constraints Schoolâ⬠The US economy was in a nose-dive for the first 6 years of FDRââ¬â¢s presidency, but he kept the Ether up and promised progress * Roosevelt Raised taxes across the boardâ⬠¦ Sounds familiar to what is going on nowâ⬠¦ damn Obama * If the war did not come about, FDR would not have lasted the 4 terms. NO: Roger Biles * FDR believed Taking a method and trying it un til it worked or didnââ¬â¢t. It it did, then keep doing it; if it didnââ¬â¢t admit that defeat and try something else. He used the Federal Govââ¬â¢t to ââ¬Å"helpâ⬠regulate the economy(kind of like genetically engineering which also doesnââ¬â¢t work 100% of the time) * Unemployment decreased over the first 5 years of FDRââ¬â¢s presidency * The FDIC insured everyoneââ¬â¢s money that is in the bank which is something that the US needed in 1929 * FDR created hope for everyone with Social Security, Welfare and Section 8 housing * He created the US postal service, rural electrification act, and rural mail act * Roosevelt changed the form of Govââ¬â¢t in a short 12 years * He created ââ¬Å"Wealth Taxâ⬠(sounds familiar AGAIN! which ââ¬Å"affected Very few taxpayersâ⬠* He then Repealed the ââ¬Å"Wealth Taxâ⬠because it didnââ¬â¢t work FDRââ¬â¢s new deal was a great idea in theory(so is Marxism), but wasnââ¬â¢t the best idea for the ti me. What he did is kind of what we are going through today: Promising change but not saying when, Increasing taxes and hoping it will help your deficit, and tried to intervene with the self regulating economy. The New Deal DID work, but only because WWII brought the need for production back to America; without that, the New Deal would have taked much much longer to work.

Egyptian and Mesoptamian Creation Story Comparison Essay
The Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations are similar yet differ in the way in which they were created. Civilizations were created years and years ago with many mythological characters and beliefs. Religion, gender, culture, gods, and society are impact the creation of these civilizations. In each of these civilizations, ââ¬Å"weâ⬠come from the same place, the Water. In the Egyptian creation story, the first thing that existed was the ocean. The ocean then laid an egg that hatched, Ra, the sun. Once Ra the sun was born, then came gods and goddesses, atmosphere, the Earth, and so on. In the Mesopotamian creation story, everything began with the water. From the water, sea monsters and gods were born. The gods then began to create life. The water played a huge role on the creation of ââ¬Å"usâ⬠and who ââ¬Å"weâ⬠are. Both the Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations believe in Polytheism. The Egyptian creation story takes place with many different gods and goddesses. Ra, the sun, brought these gods forth. The gods were Shu and Geb while the goddesses were Tefnut and Nut. Each of these gods was then the creator of something. In Mesopotamian society gods were brought to the picture, which then were the creators of everything. Gender played a picture in each of these creation stories. The stories differ on the roles of Gender. In Egypt, they had respect for women and were treated identical to men. For example, Shu, a god, and Tefnut, a goddess together created the atmosphere. The Mesopotamianââ¬â¢s take on gender was that male and female were not equal. For example, Tiamat, the female creator, tries to take control. Her descendants unite against her, choosing one of their number ââ¬â Marduk, the god of Babylon ââ¬â to lead them. In conclusion, the Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations are very similar. This leads me to believe that all civilizations are related when it dates back to the year in which they were created. These creation stories only differed in one major category, which were gender roles. Overall, the relationship between Egyptian and Mesopotamian creation stories were very similar.
